Forestry training takes place for the Navy's San Marco

(To Marina Militare)
23/03/16

From 14 to 18 March a Task Force of the 1st San Marco Regiment, 2nd Venice Assault Battalion, reinforced by a team of the Communications Company, one of the Logistic Support of the Golametto Battalion and a nucleus of mountaineering instructors from the Parachute Swimmers Company, she is transferred to the mountain residence of Camigliatello Silano, for five intense days of training in a mountain and wooded environment.

The heart of the exercises was based on training in techniques, tactics and procedures (TTP) of movement and combat in a particular environment such as the wood. Techniques have been refined for overcoming natural obstacles such as streams or unevenness in the terrain, “preserved” movement on snow-covered terrain, topographical orientation, using altitude as a reference and compass with reduced visibility.

Company, platoon and squad commanders had the opportunity to practice conducting tactical actions and reactions to ambushes.

For this type of activity it is essential to have logistical support which, in this case, was ensured by the infrastructures of the Marina di Camigliatello Silano, easily reachable from Brindisi, home of the San Marco.

These exercises serve above all to develop in the Navy Fusiliers the ability to operate in any type of operational theater that can be reached by the Ships, always faithful to the motto of San Marco, "per mare per terram!"
