Last January 26th, at the Officers' School of Taranto, 225 volunteers on initial standstill (VFI) belonging to maritime military crew corps they consecrated their full entry into the Navy, through the Oath of Allegiance to the Italian Republic ceremony.

The Oath is the final act of the basic specialist training course, during which young people from every region of Italy have developed, day after day, the essence of the "sailor", while acquiring the technical-professional knowledge of base, which will then be expanded and completed during the individual practical training that they will carry out at future service destinations.

In a passage of his speech, the commander of the Officers' School of Taranto, Rear Admiral Francesco Milazzo, thus addressed the Volunteers “…you have been included in a much more professional training course and a minimum prospect of initial employment of at least three years. This will allow you, once you arrive at your destination, to enter the new working reality in a more aware way, more effective for the organization and with greater personal gratification for yourself."

“Accompanying young volunteers on this military training journey is a source of great pride for me but at the same time of great responsibility. Every day I feel strongly the duty to set myself as an example for them to follow." Thus the head of 2nd class Marisa Petraroli, teacher and supervisor of the command of voluntary courses in pre-arranged stopsat the end of the ceremony.

The new sailors will remain in the Institute to attend the course force protection and naval fire safety and anti-failure courses.
