10/06/2014 - From 6 to 8 June the 25th "Palio di Taranto" took place in the Ionian capital, an event that includes three competitions: the Tournament of the Districts, the Interforce Tournament, an evocative rowing competition on traditional Taranto boats composed by two rowers, and the Palio del Mediterraneo with boats category "launch 10 oars".
On Saturday 7 June the 16ª edition of the "Interforces Tournament" was held, introduced for the first time in the 1999 and open to the police and local soldiers, who compete with their athletes on the same wooden boats as the Rioni.
The boat of the Air Force, whose crew was made up of 1st Marshal Pasquale Cardetta and 1st Marshal Fabio Carpone, in force at the AM Volunteer Troop School (SVTAM), won the 2014 edition, preceding all the Harbor Master's Office and the gozzo of the Penitentiary Police arrive.
Excellent for our athletes who contended, right from the start, the victory of the most quoted boats of the Fire Brigade and of the Navy, winners of the last editions. Crucial point of the race was the turning point, positioned before the final sprint, where the Air Force boat, with a series of powerful and precise strokes, was able to take advantage of its rivals, thus launching itself for the final sprint . On the shore, many celebrating people have applauded the winners of the competition.
On Sunday evening 8 June, the award ceremony took place on the seafront of the Borgo Antico of the Ionian capital. The 1 ° Marshal Pasquale Cardetta and the 1 ° Maresciallo Fabio Carpone received the right recognition for the sporting enterprise obtained.
The Palio del Mediterraneo, the third and final competition of the Palio of Taranto, saw our soldiers still the protagonists and triumphs of the event. The category “lancia 10 remi” tarantina boat has thus prevailed on the representative boat of the Navy and on others coming from other Italian cities, such as Giovinazzo, Bari (represented by the University Sports Center), La Spezia, Molfetta and Gaeta.
In the three days of the event, in coordination with the organization of the Palio, SVTAM set up a propaganda and information stand on the activities of the School.

The Navy protagonist of the Festa del Mare in Taranto

Weekend dedicated to the sea, the one just passed, which saw the city of Taranto protagonist in the second edition of the Festa del Mare, organized by the associations Il Palio and Corda Fratres, in collaboration with the Navy, the Regional Department of Agri-food Resources , the Department of Productive Activities, Sport and Culture of the Municipality of Taranto and the Regional Coni.

The event, full of events, had the main theme of the sea and opened with the Sailing Trophy of the Districts in which the Sailing Section of the Taranto Navy played a leading role, also for organizational aspects.
The party continued with the second round of the Palio of Taranto with the various rowing boat tournaments of the circumscriptions, the interforces trophy and the Mediterranean palio (10 remi category) which was also attended by the Navy crews composed by the 2 ° Capo Antonio Patronelli and the headmaster Ernesto Buoncuore.
The closing of the party was entrusted to the performance of the Fanfare of Presidio of the Navy.
