Last Saturday 13 April marked a memorable moment for thirty-four cadets of Nunziatella, the historic and prestigious military school based in Naples. In fact, the young students had the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of flying aboard a real airplane, thanks to the flight group Nunziatella, founded by the engineer. Paolino Guida, and to the collaboration with the flight school Galaxy by Pietro Napolitano.

The event, now in its third edition, provided emotions and learning in equal measure. From 8 am, the cadets gathered at the "La Selva" airfield in Vitulazio in the province of Caserta, ready to embark on this extraordinary adventure. An initiative with deep connections with the Campania region, where the Air Force Academy is located and where numerous leading entities in the aerospace world are present, such as the CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Centre) of Capua.

To welcome the cadets, in addition to the organizers of the event and a large representation of former student pilots, there was also the mayor of Vitulazio, Antonio Scialdone, and an exceptional figure in the world of parachute flying, General Guido Ruggeri of carabinieri Tuscania, also a former student of Nunziatella.

Divided into six groups, the students had the opportunity to try training with a latest generation flight simulator, provided by the organizers. This simulator was able to faithfully replicate every movement and sensation of flight, offering an immersive and educational experience. Next, it was the long-awaited moment of boarding a real airplane, supported by expert instructors ready to guide them in the art of flying.

But the experience wasn't limited to the exhilarating moments in the cockpit. During the day, the cadets had the opportunity to interact with the former students enrolled in the flying group Nunziatella, who coordinated the activities and shared their experiences in the world of aviation. A lunch break allowed them to recharge their batteries, before finishing the day with a training session debriefing and the distribution of participation certificates.

It should be noted that the initiative was an ideal complementary experience to the conference dedicated to space and its opportunities, held on 5 April 2024 at Nunziatella. It confirms the commitment of the School and its alumni in providing its students with a broad overview of the challenges and opportunities offered by the aerospace sector.

Paolino Guida, promoter of the event and former student of Nunziatella, underlined the importance of the day for the young cadets. "Flight offers the possibility of seeing the world from a completely new perspective, enriching our way of perceiving reality", Guida said. "I am convinced that this experience has contributed not only to the training of Nunziatella students, but also to the development of the area, which boasts excellence in the aviation sector such as the Tecnam company."

The future objective is to create a closer link between flight enthusiasts, the Air Force Academy and companies in the sector, contributing to the growth of the aviation hub in Campania, in order to catalyze interest and opportunities for all aviation enthusiasts .

In a world where challenges and opportunities are increasingly global, initiatives such as Nunziatella's "Fly day" take on growing importance in training future generations of leaders and innovators, ready to take to the skies with audacity and determination.
