Among the many events organized by the Air Force during 2023 to celebrate its first 100 years, on 17 September twenty-nine departments of the Armed Forces, located throughout the national territory, will open their doors to running enthusiasts for the "Centenary Run".
There are two types of tests, namely a ten kilometer run and a fitness walk, in which not only military and civilian personnel of the Air Force and other Armed Forces can participate, but also members of the Italian Athletics Federation ( FIDAL), in compliance with the 2023 membership, members of sports promotion bodies and other federations recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), with a valid membership card, and holders of Runcard.
The participation fee will be donated to the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) as part of the charity initiative "A gift from heaven for AIRC", promoted by the Air Force in collaboration with the Air Force Association, which will accompany throughout 2023 the initiatives linked to the celebrations for the Centenary of the Armed Forces. The charitable initiative intends to collect voluntary donations which will finance the supply of highly technological and latest generation equipment for IFOM, the Institute of Molecular Oncology of AIRC.
The donations raised thanks to the charity initiative, officially launched in December 2022 with the presentation of all the events of the Air Force Centenary are already substantial and, in this context, the "Centenary Race" represents further testimony of how much the Forza Armata wants to be close to the community through concrete and tangible actions.
