"Operation Sagittarius" is the title of the practical lesson-lesson that took place on Monday at the Institute of Maritime Military Studies (ISMM) in Venice.

The Navy has the constant need to have officers with excellent training who are ready to face complex situations and scenarios, even on an international mandate.

The mission entrusted to the ISMM is to get the visitors, through the Normal General Staff Course, the ability to contribute to the planning and management, according to the Body to which they belong, of the Staff Activities relating to complex Naval Commands and to central and peripheral maritime military organizations, national, foreign and international. Furthermore, the course is designed to acquire the skills necessary for the performance of high level management functions.

At the "Operation Sagittarius" event Online Defense was able to attend as regards the final phase of the simulation of an intervention planning in a crisis area on a UN mandate, ie the simulation of the press conference to present to the Media the status quo of the current situation, which saw four imaginary countries, bordering each other, in contrast for various reasons.

The participating officers, coming from all the corps of the Navy, were divided into two operational staffs, each of whom prepared an intervention planning and then held a press conference. To make the fleas, "trying to break the hair into four", experts and guests outside the Armed Forces thought about it, interpreting the role of journalists - among them also professionals - who subjected the two groups to a real and precisely "barrage of questions": international legal aspects, planning of men in the field, evaluation of the forces at stake were just some of the themes touched upon. The goal, however excellent achieved, was to recreate a situation that was as real as possible, trying, on the part of the officers involved in the lesson, to maintain the necessary professionalism in the answers in order not to lend itself to possible manipulations or misinterpretations.

The Normal General Staff Course is held in 3 sessions every year, involving, overall, over one hundred military patrons destined to hold command or management functions, as well as national and international staff members.
