"NEMO 2014": naval electronic warfare exercise

On Friday 18 September 2014, at the auditorium of the Mar Grande naval station in Taranto, the final coordination meeting took place concerning the NATO "Naval Electromagnetic Operation" (NEMO) which will involve the sectors of electronic naval warfare.

17 land assets, 2 planes and naval 7 will be involved for a total of 10 nations; in particular the frigates Alvaro de Bazan (Spain), Jean Bart (France), Turgutreis (Turkey) and the Kristallidis fast attack unit (Greece) arrived at the naval base of Taranto.

"In addition to the technical and experimental contents related to the activity, NEMO is a demonstration of the mutual support of NATO in interoperability and joint defense", so admiral Andrea Gueglio - commander of the second naval group - stated during his speech. welcome to the allied staff present.

The activity will take place in the waters of the Gulf of Taranto from the 22 to the 26 Settembre 2014.
