August 26 ship Palinuro, left Constance, Romania, and resumed navigation to Leros, Greece, the last stage of the 2016 education campaign in favor of the marshals of the 18th course Prometheus.

The passage of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, crossed in full sail, offered an unforgettable scenery and a unique formative moment, both for the marshal students and for the aspiring midshipmen of the course Adamastor.

During the navigation the students were engaged in exercises, guard services, sporting activities and climbing in trees; A rescue was also simulated, for the benefit of future medical officers and non-commissioned nurses, using the different types of stretchers on board.
After six days of navigation the unit moored in the port of Lakki on the island of Leros, a place of great historical and cultural importance due to its link with Italy.

In fact, there are many Italians who, from the beginning of the Italo-Turkish war of 1912 to the end of the Second World War (Battle of Leros of 1943), populated this island of the Dodecanese, whose descendants enthusiastically welcomed the ship's visit Palinuro.

Thanks to the availability of the cultural association AIAL (Italian Association of Friends of Leros), and the military authorities present, the crew of the Palinuro ship visited some of the most interesting places on the island, including the naval base (former Rossetti water station) , the rationalist buildings in the city center, the Merikià Tunnel military and war museum (which contains a collection of WWII war relics) and Pandeliu castle.

On 6 September the Italian fallen of the Battle of Leros for the defense of the island from German attacks from September to November of the 1943.

The training campaign is now at sunset and ship Palinuro heads west: there are only a few days left until the conclusion of this important journey which has allowed all the students to grow as sailors, but above all as men.
