Mimbelli ship set sail for the 2023 education campaign

Last Monday 24 July, on board the missile destroyer "Francesco Mimbelli - D 561", moored at the Mar Grande Naval Station in Taranto, the ceremony for the start of the education campaign was held for the students of the 2nd class of the Naval Academy of Livorno.

After the greeting of the commander of the Navy schools, team admiral Antonio Natale, the 127 students of the second year of the normal courses (including 30 women and 9 foreign visitors, one of whom was a woman), began this new phase of training which will sees for the first time on an operational ship of the Navy, so-called "grey", during which they will learn the principles of seamanship and life on board.

Students will be engaged in the study and practice of various nautical and seafaring activities such as interactions and close kinematic maneuvers with other naval units, training in different forms of combat, simulated events of passive defense, observations and astronomical calculations and shooting with portable weapons and installations ship's artillery.

The same ones, together with the crew of Nave Mimbelli, will carry the Italian flag abroad, exporting the tradition and ethical values ​​that have always distinguished the peculiar figure of the "professional of the sea".

The missile destroyer Francesco Mimbelli, under the command of the vessel captain Massimiliano Carrino, will also be engaged in operational-training activities of maritime presence, surveillance and surveillance in the Central and Eastern Mediterranean, alternating patrolling activities at sea with stops in port.

In particular, the following sources will be visited: Istanbul (Turkey), Beirut (Lebanon), Valletta (Malta), Alexandria (Egypt), Haifa (Israel), Rhodes (Greece) and finally Livorno, where the arrival is scheduled for September 22nd. At the end of the disembarkation of the students who will subsequently return to the Naval Academy, the ship will return to the Taranto headquarters.
