January 7 ship Carabiniere, in the Indian Ocean on a mission to combat piracy, Operation Atalanta, landed and took off, from its flight deck, a “SeaHawk 60” (SH-60) helicopter of the Spanish frigate ESPS Victoria.
It is the first time that a helicopter of this type performs flight activities on a FREMM unit of the Italian Navy.
The occasion, dictated by logistical requirements of the TF 465 of the Transaction Atalanta, which has seen the two frigates operate together for several months, has served to perfect the training of the crews of the Spanish helicopter and the ship's flight deck crew Carabiniere.
