Nave Caio Duilio meets the Luna Rossa Challenge team

Nave Caio Duilio, which cooperates with the Ministry of Economic Development in areas characterized by the presence of hydrocarbons, called at Cagliari from 2 to 6 October. During the stop, the crew received a visit from the Luna Rossa Challenge team, which chose the city as the base for the next three years of practice and training.

The sailors and technicians of Luna Rossa, who first received some officers on board in their avant-garde port facility, then returned the visit to the Duilio.

The ship sailed Monday to continue an activity of presence and surveillance in collaboration with the general direction for mineral and energy resources (DGRME) of the Ministry of Economic Development, within areas of interest for the exploration, research and cultivation of hydrocarbons.

The activity, already conducted in recent days in areas with a high concentration of oil platforms in the Gulf of Taranto and in the South of Sicily, is a concrete example of the potential expressed by the Italian navy and by the Duilio ship in terms of flexibility of use and support to other dicasteries, to protect national interests and to protect the marine environment.

During the stop the commander, vessel captain Giacinto Sciandra, received the prefect of Cagliari, dr. Alessio Giuffrida, the dr. Giovanni Caocci of the State Attorney, the commissioner dr. Filippo Dispenza, Brigadier General Antonio Bacile, commander of the Carabinieri region of Sardinia and Brigadier General Luca Giovannini, deputy military commander of Sardinia.
