Vessel Alliance terminates Nordic Recognized Environmental Picture 23

Ends by Ship Alliance la Nordic Recognized Environmental Picture 23, in which the scientific team of the NATO Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE- Center for Maritime Research and Experimentation) has carried out extensive research on the effects of climate change on environmental noise and acoustic propagation in Arctic polar waters, operating specific types of passive acoustic receivers.

July 17th Ship Alliance she departed Tromsø to head back to polar waters off Svalbard for campaign High North 23, research activity started in 2017 by the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy.

The team of hydrographers will engage in peculiar operations such as the execution of bathymetries of the seabed, including 3D mapping from the satellite, the sampling of microplastics and the observation of marine mammals. 

The ARNACOSKY (ARctic NAvigation with COsmo SKYmed) project will be carried out simultaneously, with the support of the satellite company e-GEOS, aimed at defining the boundaries of the floating ice along the 78th parallel N.

Ship Alliance, dependent on the command of the mine countermeasures forces and on the hydrographic vessels and experiences squadron, departed from the La Spezia source on 17 May for the Arctic Campaign 2023.
