Sailors from the Augusta base help the fisherman suffering from illness

This morning around 09: 45 the ship's sailors Sirio and Augusta Patrol Forces Command (COMFORPAT) present on the quay Tullio Marcon of the Augusta Naval Base rescued a fisherman aboard his small boat who had been struck by illness and rescue by sailors.

The sailors noticed a small boat, a gozzo, which approached the dock with the intent to moor. The mooring maneuver near military ships immediately triggered the intervention of the military and Carabinieri Unit present on the base which, in fact, ascertained that it was a man in difficulty because he was struck by illness. In view of the situation, the 118 Unit and the Nucleus of the naval base and ship were promptly notified. Sirio whose nurses have rescued and monitored the conditions of the man awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.

The man, who remained conscious throughout the period, was transferred to the Augusta hospital from the 118 ambulance that arrived at the dock a few minutes after the call.

The boat was first moored in the naval base and then recovered from the family members of the man.
