On November 22, 2023, in the waters of the Gulf of Taranto, for the first time a ship Thaon of Revel of the Ship Montecuccoli conducted joint training activities. For the two very modern Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Boats (first and third in the class) it was an unmissable opportunity, which began with the traditional rendering of honors at sea and continued with training activities in formation. The two units, in fact, carried out a series of exercises which allowed the young naval officers to try their hand at maneuvers in formation, useful for increasing their seamanship skills, and the operational teams to test themselves in tactical procedures and in the use of advanced on-board sensors.
The activity was integrated into the dense schedule of the first sea outing of Montecuccoli in the context of Elementary Internship (TIR.ELE.) conducted by the instructors of the MM air-naval training center (Maricentadd). The TIR.ELE. involves an intense training program of increasing difficulty which, over a period of seven weeks, aims to achieve full operational readiness by the crew of the Units through serial events that embrace all forms of combat and, transversally, damage control in progressively more complex scenarios.
From this perspective, therefore, the meeting at sea represented a symbolic "good wind" on the part of the PPA class leader at Nave Montecuccoli, with the certainty that it will quickly reach full operational capacity.
