La Maritime Party, the event promoted by the municipality of La Spezia and by the port authority and which has now become a custom for the city, this year it has welcomed thousands of visitors, who had their home from Friday 28 August until Sunday 30 August. opportunity to walk through the streets of the city and to visit the numerous "stands" set up to participate in the many initiatives thematically connected to the sea and its link with culture, the environment and above all with gastronomy, also in the wake of the success achieved this year from the Milan Expo.

Nave Vespucci, currently engaged in the final phase of major modernization and extension work, and which we will be seeing at sea from the beginning of next spring, wanted to participate in this important event in favor of citizenship and all visitors , also considering the strong bond that unites the ship and the Navy with the city of La Spezia.

In a gazebo-educational / training workshop the "nocchieri" of Vespucci carried out four daily lessons, lasting about an hour, to introduce seamanship to children and young people (5-12 years).

During these meetings, the basics of navigation and the art of seamanship were introduced in a simple and intuitive way.
We talked about nautical charts, meteorology, maritime terminology and at the end they were given some clips from the top with which the kids could learn the most useful and famous marine knots used in the Navy (piano, savoia, spoken and lover's gassa) .

Furthermore, until September 13, at the headquarters of the Carispezia Foundation in Via Chiodo 36, an exhibition will be held entitled "Il Vespucci and other sailing ships", where among others will be exposed some valuable pieces of Nave Vespucci that, in consideration of its exceptional work stop, could make temporarily available.

The public will thus have the opportunity to observe, exclusively, very closely some of its most characteristic objects that are difficult to observe during the normal operational activity of the unit.
