Inside the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, the Comsubin Underwater Operative Group was awarded the diploma of merit by the Scudi di San Martino Institute.

The Scudi Institute of San Martino was born in Florence in 1983 with the aim of increasing the acts of human solidarity through an award ceremony addressed to all those who stood out for their commitment, spirit of sacrifice and courage in favor of the weakest, the needy. and of people in grave danger.

The XXXI edition of the ceremony for the awarding of the shields of merit saw among the winners the Navy divers with the following motivation:

"The Diving Operative Group (GOS), through the employees of Nuclei Sminamento and Difesa Antimezzi Insidiosi (SDAI) employees, has been relentlessly carrying out an untiring and silent reclamation of the remaining war explosive devices since the post-war period, which, again today at a distance of more than 60 years, they are found in Italian territorial waters constituting a serious danger for the population. For further competition to the safety of our seas the GOS has distinguished itself in recent years in rescue operations after the sinking of the Costa Concordia and the collapse of the Pilots Tower of the port of Genoa, always earning the general acclaim of authorities, other bodies and the civilian population for the professionalism and effectiveness of its action ".

The attribution of this important acknowledgment filled the divers with the diversities and "Teseo Tesei" divers who, once again, proved to be a fundamental instrument of the navy to safeguard public safety.
