General Graziano visits the General Command of the Corps of Port Authority

General Claudio Graziano, Chief of Defense Staff, paid a visit today, November 14, to the headquarters of the General Command of the Port Authority Corps - Coast Guard, accompanied by the Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Valter Girardelli, received by the commander general, admiral inspector Vincenzo Melone, together with the deputy commander general, the department heads and the staff office heads.

This is the first visit by a Chief of Staff of the Defense to the headquarters of the General Command.

During the meeting, thanks to a timely and exhaustive presentation carried out by the individual department heads, aimed at illustrating the current development of the functions of the Port Authority Corps - Coast Guard, the Chief of Defense was able to appreciate the social impact of the various lines of activities carried out by the Corps, aimed at exercising the maritime function for the civil and productive uses of the sea and ports, at the service of the three relevant departments and in favor of the national and international community, together with the important contribution that the Corps renders to the functions of the Ministry of Defense.

The visit ended at the Corps operations center, the national center for the coordination of search and rescue operations at sea, where the main control and monitoring systems of maritime traffic and the modern technologies used by the Corps were illustrated.
