Last Tuesday, during his visit to Italy, the Chief of Staff of the Paraguayan Navy, deputy almirante Antonio Wladimir Vallejos Abadie, accompanied by the managing director of the company "Baglietto Navy" eng. Diego De Prati, went aboard Nave Carabiniere.

The delegation was welcomed on board by the commander of the First Naval Group, rear-admiral Francesco Sollitto, and by the commander of the unit, frigate captain Francesco Saladino.

After a presentation of the FREMM Program, and the characteristics of the unit, the on-board visit continued in the operational, technical and living rooms, concluding with the traditional signature on the Book of Honor by Admiral Vallejos.

Paraguay - despite being a landlocked nation - has always had a strong naval tradition as it has access to the Atlantic Ocean through the country's two main rivers.

Today the Paraguayan Navy fleet consists of 4 patrol boats, 17 patrol boats and some tugboats, as well as various landing and transport vehicles.
