The helicopters back aboard ship Stromboli

After a few months of technical break due to a sensitive engine problem, the Stromboli team refueler returned to sail in the Mediterranean in full swing. In this circumstance, after six years of absence of a flight component embarked on the unit, on 29 September the Helicopter Section 4.48, consisting of an AB-212 helicopter and its crew (2 pilots and 3 flight operators), was deployed on the Stromboli ship, during the refueling of the units integrated into the Mare Safe air-naval device.

Great was the enthusiasm with which the old man's crew Gighy (as he fondly calls the oldest gray ship in the entire Navy) he welcomed his colleagues in green coveralls and the logistical and training activities ensured during the mission, with the aircraft competition on board: from vertical supplies (VERTREP) to the training of personnel to the qualification of Flight Deck Officer, from decoys and parades to flying flights.

Ship Stromboli has to its assets more than 1.200 supplies at sea in favor of national and NATO naval units, 43.623 hours of motion and about 415.000 miles traveled.
