The 1 ° battalion Assault of the 1 ° regiment San Marco has recently completed an exercise carried out in the Sila mountains, in the area of Camigliatello Silano. The activity was mainly used to test equipment and fighting techniques in a mountain area rich in forests.
The study of the terrain and topography, the structure and weight of the equipment are the most complex factors to be faced during the activity. A lot of work to overcome obstacles at different altitudes, between 1300 and 1800 meters. Exercises were carried out to train the teams in the use of ropes and knots, an essential professional background for Navy Fusiliers.
During the Lion Drill the San Marco has been logistically supported by the personnel and means of the Montano Marina stay of Camigliatello essential for the success of the exercise.
