Joint Italy-Morocco exercise

Promote cooperation and peace in the Mediterranean regions and improve mutual knowledge for a greater integration of crews. These are the objectives of the last training just concluded in the Gulf of Taranto and in the Ionian Sea between the frigate Euro of the Italian Navy and the frigate Tarik Ibn Ziyad of the Royal Maroccan Navy.

The exercise, called ITA-MOR 2015, is part of the 5 + 5 Network which involves some northern and south MMediterranean (Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Malta and Mauritania, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya).

The training developed in two phases. In the first, at the Aeronaval Training Center of Taranto, simulated exercises were carried out in the field of anti-submarine, fire and anti-leak fighting preparatory to the second phase at sea.

Subsequently, training was carried out on boarding (boarding) on ​​ship Saturn, to the defense against attacks conducted by small boats, the landing and take-off of helicopters and maneuvers in the open sea.

At the end, the ships returned to port and the crews of Italy and Morocco greeted each other with the exchange of crests.
