Today there has been an alternation of the command of Operation Safe Sea (WHO) between Rear Admiral Placido Torresi, commander of the 1ª Naval Division and the incoming, Rear Admiral Enrico Pacioni, commander of the Countermeasure Forces mine.
For the occasion, the European Multi-Mission Frigate (FREMM) Margottini of the Navy has been replaced by another FREMM, Nave Alpine, as naval flagship of OMS Commander.
The Operation Safe Sea operates in a sea area of about 160.000 square kilometers, located in the central Mediterranean and overlooking the Libyan coasts.
