Last Friday the 1 San Marco regiment, during the general assembly in the parade ground of the Carlotto barracks, "inaugurated" a new tradition: the appointment of the naval rifleman and the sergeant of the year. Symbolic act to reward the commitment, the will, the passion, the selfless spirit of service and the concreteness of the action in the demanding job of rifleman.

The appointment took place in the presence of Rear Admiral Rosario Walter Guerrisi, commander of the San Marco marine brigade, and the selection for the prestigious appointments saw: about three hundred and eighty graduates and troops, for the appointment of the naval fusilier of the year; two hundred ninety sergeants and second chiefs, for the appointment of the sergeant of the year taking into consideration those who have stood out particularly for professionalism, military conduct, participation in operational and training activities, physical qualities, motivation and seriousness in and out of service .
