Awarded to the MM the "1st European Award for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Management" Award for Mare Nostrum

On 29 September at the Conference Center of the Hotel Andels in Berlin, on the occasion of the 11th European Congress for Civil Protection, the award ceremony of the 1st European Award for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Management assigned in the 2015 to the Navy for humanitarian services rendered during the operation Mare Nostrum.

The international award, established in the 2015 by the German magazine Behörden Spiegel, the main German press agency for the public service and organizer of the event, is assigned to personalities who, through their activities, have supported humanitarian action and disaster management.

The Award is intended to serve as an example for acting with courage and passion and to motivate others to act as the recipient. Captain Luigi Laporta, head of representation for the U212A program in Germany, representing the Chief of Staff of the Navy team admiral Giuseppe De Giorgi, received the award from the hands of Mr. R. Uwe Prolleditore head of the prestigious periodical.

The congress committee has awarded the award to the Navy with this motivation: "The Italian Navy has demonstrated to the world an extraordinary reaction in the field of humanitarian aid and disaster management by rescuing and saving more than 150.000 people on the occasion of the Mare Nostrum operation ".
