150 Anniversary of the Harbor Master and Coast Guard Capitals

22/07/15

On Monday, at the headquarters of the Port Authority of the city of Bari, the 150 anniversary of the constitution of the Harbor and Coast Guard authorities was celebrated. The 20 July 1865 King Vittorio Emanuele II, at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the capital of Italy, signs, on the proposal of the then Minister of the Navy, the royal decree n ° 2438 which establishes the Corps of Harbor Master of the Kingdom of Italy.

The Bari Maritime Directorate, as part of this commemoration, has prepared a series of events and celebrations.

In Bari a solemn ceremony was held at sea in honor of the fallen with the throwing of a wreath of flowers. In particular, we wanted to remember Giuseppe Nanu, head of the 27enne sub-director of the Coast Guard originally from Barletta who disappeared on duty in Olbia in the 2011.

In the afternoon, however, an open mass was celebrated for those who wanted to celebrate the historic birthday with the Harbor Office, at the end of which there was the reading of the sailor's prayer, the speech by the commander Admiral Domenico De Michele, in the presence of the highest civil and military authorities and mariners associations on leave. Following a small refreshment for those who remained.

Happy Birthday Harbor Master and Coast Guard!
