15 December 2015, last flag of the Maestrale ship

(To Marina Militare)
15/12/15

A few days after the end of its last campaign on 15 December 2015, at 11.00, at the Scali quay of the La Spezia naval base, for the occasion exceptionally open to the public, the Maestrale frigate will end its operational life, after 33 years of activity at the service of institutions and the community.

The ceremony of the "last flag of Ammaina" will take place in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Giuseppe De Giorgi.

With the greetings of the Maestrale ship, the process of downsizing the Naval Squadron continues inexorably, and due to the aging of the units, another 51 ships currently in service will radiate over the next decade.

Thanks to the naval emergency program, the Navy could avoid its extinction and much has been done thanks to the first tranche of funding provided for by the 2014 Financial Law.

Only with the second tranche could the renewal of the fleet be completed, giving the country a modern and balanced Navy as always in the service of the nation.
