Ryder Cup 2023: Army and Air Force compete for safety

For the Ryder Cup, the golf tournament considered among the most important in the world being held in Italy, now in its 23rd edition, the Defense contributes to the safety of the event by deploying C-UAS (Counter Unmanned System) assets of the Army and the 'Air Force, which also employs an MQ9A “Predator B” remotely piloted aircraft from the 32nd wing of Amendola (FG) used for surveillance and aerial image acquisition and a P-72A from the 41st wing of Sigonella (CT), a patrol aircraft used for activities of acquisition and identification of information on the ground.​​​

Yesterday, thanks to the device deployed, a drone unauthorized to fly over the area affected by the event was intercepted.

I Pity of the 17th "Sforzesca" anti-aircraft artillery regiment of Sabaudia, on the orders of the police commissioner of Rome, hijacked the unidentified drone to get it out of the area of ​​competence.

All the arrangements, given in competition to the prefecture of Rome for the sporting event, are coordinated by operational command of interforce forces.
