The change of command ceremony was held today at the Modeling & Simulation center of excellence in the Adriano De Cicco barracks in Cecchignola.
In the presence of Rear Admiral Gaetano Virgilio, head of the Defense Innovation General Office, the baton was handed over between Colonel Stefano Lo Storto (EI) who handed over the position of Director of the Center to Colonel Francesco Pacillo (EI).
The col. Lo Storto in his closing speech greeted all the staff of the center, underlining the growing interest in the subject “Modeling and Simulation” in the world and in the new operational scenarios. "Today our community of interest needs to cooperate more and more, to guarantee skills and guidelines in support of NATO, Italy and contributing nations" (Czech Republic, Germany and the United States).
NATO M&S COE is dedicated to promoting M&S in support of operational requirements, training and interoperability. The center, located at the "Adriano De Cicco" barracks in Cecchignola headquarters of the VI Department of the Defense Staff, acts as a catalyst for transformation through the involvement of NATO and the individual nations that are part of it, universities, industry, operational entities and training, enhancing the networking of NATO and national M&S systems, cooperation between nations and other entities by sharing M&S information and developments, and serving as an international source of expertise for transformation in the relevant domain.
