On 13 May 2020, the Chief of Staff of Defense, General Enzo Vecciarelli, met in Rome, at Palazzo Salviati, the Central Council of the Military Representation (COCER), in the presence of the chiefs of staff of the armed forces, the commanders general of the carabinieri weapon and the body of the finance guard and the secretary general of defense.
The meeting, which was attended by the delegates of the armed forces, the carabinieri weapon and the body of the finance guard, ended in a climate of mutual respect and confrontation.
General Vecciarelli drew attention to the particular historical moment due to the Covid-19 pandemic: "Never before has the cohesion of purpose and the synergy of efforts been essential to the success of COCER's work" and he also took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with the work of women and men in uniform in support of the population.
In conclusion, the Chief of Defense Staff renewed his willingness and openness to receive suggestions and effective proposals, believing that a proactive confrontation turns out to be a success factor for the armed forces and the military police forces: "My priority, like that of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Commanders General and the Secretary General of Defense is to safeguard the interests of personnel above all else".
