Minister Pinotti went to Norcia yesterday to visit the populations affected by the earthquake.
Upon his arrival, he greeted and thanked a representation of soldiers, and wanted to visit the canteen which provides 1200 meals a day. Then he met the citizens and a large group of very young students with the teaching staff.
"The thanks I received - are the words of the minister from the canteen set up by the Army - is aimed at the many military personnel who work with care and professionalism from day one, but I want to extend it to all the members of the State who are involved here, teaming up against a common problem".
The Defense, with its countless assets, already engaged in the areas of Amatrice and Accumuli since 25 August, has increased its device by deploying engineering, logistical and support assets to operations also in the Norcia area in the immediacy of the earthquake.
Today there are almost two thousand men of the armed forces and the carabinieri who operate directly or in support of operations in favor of the earthquake-stricken areas in reconstruction, population support and anti-looting.
Minister Pinotti, in the Umbrian town, met the 400 soldiers who serve in the locality but also representatives of the contingents engaged in the whole area. In fact, the Defense staffs staff in Amatrice, Rieti, Spoleto, Foligno, Visso, Città Reale and several other places where the work of professionals with the stars, in coordination with the various branches of the State, has helped to alleviate the situation of the populations affected by the earthquake.
Among the first works carried out by military personnel are the urbanization works on the site which began on 29 November. In a short time the first pitch was delivered for the installation of the housing modules. The Army soldiers carried out the so-called "expeditious urbanization", that is, the construction of the sediment area and the provision of services, such as sewerage and utilities.
