The head of SMD meets his Swiss counterpart

The Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, received the head of the Swiss Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Thomas Süssli, yesterday.

​During the meeting, in addition to sharing and analyzing the geo-strategic scenario in the operational areas of common interest, issues related to military cooperation and the capacity development of the Armed Forces were discussed, with particular reference to the sector of technological innovation, cyber.
A sector that is seeing growing cooperation is the aeronautical and industrial sector, especially after the Swiss Parliament's decision to equip the country with F-35A aircraft, almost all of which will be assembled in Italy.

Admiral Cavo Dragone expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the meeting as a prelude to further developments of future collaboration in the military field between the Armed Forces of the two countries.

The visit continued in the afternoon at the Joint Forces Operational Command where Division Admiral Valter Zappellini illustrated the activities conducted by COVI in coordinating the operations of the Italian Armed Forces abroad and on national territory.

The series of meetings of lieutenant general Thomas Süssli will end tomorrow with a visit to 'counter excellence center for mini/micro remotely piloted aircraft' (CM/M APR), located inside the anti-aircraft artillery command headquarters in Sabaudia.​
