SMD head to Amatrice and Rieti visiting military and volunteers at work in areas affected by the earthquake

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano, went this morning to visit the areas of central Italy hit by the earthquake of 24 August, in particular in Amatrice where the genius of the Army is working to create an alternative road network to “Three eyes” bridge which represented the main entrance to the city and the Air Force is present with a mobile control tower that guarantees the safe management of air traffic in the area.

"The earthquake in some ways is worse than the war, but in the past years worse situations have been rebuilt", these are the words of the head of SMD after visiting the areas affected by the earthquake and greeted the military and volunteers at work.

The Defense currently employs about 1300 units, 300 vehicles and 3 aircraft.
