The second political-strategic dialogue between Italy and Vietnam ended in Rome

The second political-strategic dialogue between the Undersecretary of State for Defense, Domenico Rossi, and the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, General Nguyen Chi Vinh, took place today in Rome.

During the meeting, which represents the continuation of a relationship started between the two countries with the specific signature Memorandum of Understanding in 2013, the mutual will to cooperate in the Defense sector has been strengthened to achieve common goals. Particular attention was paid to a concrete and growing partnership between the two countries.

"Today's interview has produced many agreements which I hope will materialize in a stronger collaboration between Italy and Vietnam"Undersecretary Rossi said, calling attention to the possibility of the Italian Industry, which operates in the Defense sector, to increase its collaboration with the Vietnamese government.

The main themes also discussed the commitment to fighting terrorism, maritime surveillance, control of migratory flows, the situation in North Korea and the nuclear threat.

"The mission in Iraq against Daesh is Italy's main effort, which represents the second contingent after the United States"- underlined the undersecretary -"Our international commitment is aimed at helping less fortunate countries, battered by war. A resolution of disputes in compliance with the rules of international law".

"Italy is a very important strategic partner for Vietnam", Said Deputy Minister Vinh.

On the subject of training, which is one of the main pillars of cooperation between the two countries, the Italian defense has been renewed in the formation of illegal officials, interested above all in the field of explosive devices remediation.

"Our genius specialists have reached a very high level of preparation in the field of explosive ordnance remediation"Said Rossi,An experience gained on the national territory in the remediation of war residuals and abroad, especially in Afghanistan, against improvised devices".

Vietnamese officials have already attended training courses in the field of explosive ordnance remediation at the Counter IED Center of Excellence Army.

"This center - said Rossi - it is proposed as an inter-force reference point and we will be happy to train other staff".

A training offer, that of Defense, complete which sees a collaboration with the Armed Forces of more than 70 Countries, including Vietnam.

Undersecretary Rossi, in turn, receiving the consent of Vice Minister Vihn, then drew attention to the possibility of the Italian Industry, which operates in the Defense sector, to increase its collaboration with the Vietnamese government.

For his part, Deputy Minister Vinh expressed the interest of the Vietnamese government for the purchase of technical equipment of the genius in anticipation of a possible future employment in southern Sudan.

Among others were the deputy secretary general of the defense, general of the corps, Nicolò Falsaperna, a representative of the Industrie e Difesa Agency and the ambassador of Vietnam in Italy, Cao Chinh Thien.

At the conclusion of the second political-strategic dialogue, to confirm the commitment of mutual collaboration, a technical document was countersigned by the Italian and Vietnamese Defense military representatives.
