80th anniversary of the battle of El Alamein, presented documentary and a celebratory stamp

Today in Rome - Cinecittà, at the "Fellini" screening room, on the occasion of the XNUMXth anniversary of the battle of El Alamein, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Defense Senator Isabella Rauti and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the General Defense Corps Carmine Masiello, the re-edition of the documentary “El Alamein” was presented and, in collaboration with the Italian Post Office, a celebratory stamp.

The re-edition of the film was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Historical Archives of the Presidency of the Republic, the Archivio Luce Foundation and the Roberto Rossellini State Institute of Cine-TV in Rome. The students of the latter Institute were engaged in the re-edition of a documentary on the battle of "El Alamein" using the films of the great documentary production of Gianni Bisiach and the Istituto Luce, revisited in a modern key through their restoration and colorization of the black and white of the most significant parts.

The students participating in the project, assisted by tutors from the ISS Rossellini and the Archivio Luce, tried their hand at selecting and editing the scenes shot by Gianni Bisiach at the time, for about thirty minutes of short film, re-editing a documentary production that constitutes a heritage. cultural heritage of immense historical value.

To follow, to mark the 4.634th anniversary of the second battle of “El Alamein”, a celebratory stamp was also presented, published by the State Printing and Mint Institute. The cartoon depicts the Italian Military Shrine of “El Alamein” in Egypt, built on a project by engineer Paolo Caccia Dominioni, which stands where some battles of the Second World War took place and houses the remains of XNUMX fallen.

At the end of the activity, Senator Rauti and General Masiello wrote the cancellation on the first postage stamp.
