The Undersecretary of State for Defense, Domenico Rossi, participated this morning in Udine at the ceremony for the commemoration of the 23 partisans Osovans and Garibaldians shot, the 11 February 1945, at the cemetery walls.
In expressing gratitude toNational Association of Italian Partisans for the invitation received, Undersecretary Rossi emphasized in his speech that "The Government has the institutional duty to be present in ceremonies like this, and the presence is never just symbolic" - he added - "On these occasions we can send positive messages to the whole country, Italy, which has a soul made of values such as solidarity and social justice".
"On the wall of the cemetery in Udine, 72 years ago, Osovan and Garibaldi partisans were shot, united in death for a common idea of democracy, freedom, peace which are the values of resistance ", said the undersecretary, "Resistance is a fundamental part of the rebirth of our country and on which we have based ourselves to build our constitution. We have received a legacy that must be defended and passed on to young people. This is our commitment."
"Today's ceremony takes on an even deeper meaning because today, as happened last Sunday, the National Association of Partisans of Italy and the Association of Osoppo Partisans, together, pay homage to the fallen of the resistance".
Still in Friuli, in fact, the undersecretary Rossi, was present, Sunday 5 February, at the commemoration of the massacre of the pastures of Porzus, where for the first time, after 72 years, the two partisan associations gathered to remember the fallen.
