The event opens today at the Rome Urbe Airport Rome Drone Expo & Show 2016The protagonist at this third edition of the National Air Show on drones, among the many sponsors and producers who took part, was an RQ-1 'Predator' UAV in force at the 32 ° Stormo di Amendola of the Italian Air Force which carried out strategic observation missions in Afghanistan.

In addition to the AM UAV and several drones for civilian use, there are two models of UAS fixed wing drones (unmanned aircraft system) used by the Italian Army: an RQ-11 'Raven' and a 'Bramor', both used from the 41 ° Sora 'Cordenons' Regiment.

The Raven, which will conduct a demonstration flight during the 3 days demonstration, is a hand-launched drone employed by the armies of different countries for ISR missions (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) in the first line.

Also present at the event are 3 drones which will be used by the State Police in activities of an 'experimental' nature since Territorial Control Service of Central Anti-Crime Department. They are two multi-helicopters, a 'Colibri' and a 'FlyNovex', and a fixed-wing UAS 'FlySecur' which, like 'Bramor', is launched by a small catapult and lands by means of a tiny parachute.

"The drones are not only sophisticated technological toys, but they can carry out missions of great importance for the community, even in the security sector", said the president of Rome Drone Luciano Castro.

In Rome, Drone is also exhibiting the helicopter HERO SD-150 drone, UAV used by the Italian Red Cross for monitoring operations and for the urgent transport of medicines and medical supplies.
