Today at Palazzo Valentini in Rome, the presentation of the third edition of the "Nassiriya International Peace Prize" which will take place at the Sanctuary of the Annunziata in Licusati, in Cilento, on 11 November. The award is held annually and is awarded to people who have distinguished themselves in the social field and in the promotion of peace.
At the press conference, besides the undersecretary Alfano, Vincenzo Rubano, president of the Prize, the army corps general Agostino Biancafarina, military commander of the Capital and the councilor of the Metropolitan City of Roma Capitale, Paolo Ferrara, participated.
The undersecretary, during his speech, recalled the commitment of the armed forces outside national borders to stabilize countries at war and guarantee peace.
"Many Italian soldiers have written indelible pages of history with blood. We will never have to forget them and the Nassyrya Peace Prize is a noble way to remember them.
The winners of today are an example of sacrifice for the State, Rita Dalla Chiesa and Monica Contraffatto, are two women who have drawn the strength from their tragedy to spread, with concrete actions, messages of hope and peace".
