Yesterday evening, 12 July 2017, at the suggestive cloister of the Carmine convent, today theEnte Exhibition Contemporary Painting City of Marsala, in the presence of the mayor of Marsala and numerous political and military authorities of the cities of Marsala and Trapani, the Air Force presented the new editorial product dedicated to the five Hunting departments which this year celebrate one hundred years of life, including the 18 ° Group of the 37 ° Stormo of Trapani Birgi.

The presentation of the book, entitled "A la Chasse! 1917 - 2017 from the Air Defense Hunt", was moderated by the journalist Jana Cardinale and saw the participation of Col. Salvatore Ferrara - commander of the 37 ° Stormo, of Col. Alessandro Cornacchini - editor of the volume, of the t.col. Salvatore Florio - commander of the XVIII Group and of the captain Cristian Angelillo - head of the Reinforced Technical Service of the XVIII Group.

The evening, introduced by the masterful Vittoria Abbenante, began on the notes and words of the song "SPAD VII" by Francesco De Gregori: a film guided the audience in retracing the last century of aeronautical history made up of brave men, aircraft, but above all of values ​​and traditions unchanged over time and that still characterize the daily life of those whose mission is the defense of airspace, the main task of the Air Force.

Through the images of the book, the stories of the col. Ferrara, del t.col. Florio and some pilots and specialists of the XVIII Group have been told this glorious long 100 history and that thin thread that links their current employment to the origins of the noble specialty of Hunting. The stories were embellished with anecdotes and curiosities, but also with reflections on the new security challenges, on the importance of the airport for its strategic position in the center of the Mediterranean basin, but also for its vital importance for development. economic and tourist "of this beautiful part of Sicily that has been hosting us for over 30 years".
