The doors of Palazzo Aeronautica, in Rome, the headquarters of the Italian Air Force, are once again opening exceptionally to the public in the next two weekends in June for another significant event to enhance the Italian artistic and cultural heritage, the "Giuseppe Verdi and Italy ", created by Gaia Maschi Verdi, great grandson of the artist, with the patronage of the Culture and Tourism Department of Roma Capitale.

The project intends to retrace - through images, rare testimonies and some relics and precious original documents - the roots of the illustrious composer Busseto, one of the major interpreters of national patriotism and among the symbols still more appreciated in the world of Italian excellence.

The splendid setting of the historic rooms of Palazzo Aeronautica, itself an admirable example of the architecture of the late 30 and therefore inserted by the Italian Environment Fund (FAI) among the national monuments to be preserved and made known, will on this occasion provide a backdrop at an exhibition designed to bring to light the private and secret life of the famous Italian musician. A path, as already described by the title - "The works of Giuseppe Verdi in the places of inspiration and in the family documents" - wants to introduce young Verdi, the years of the lucky meeting with the Barezzi family and the places where he composed some of his most beautiful works, including the Rigoletto, Il Trovatore and La Traviata.

"Giuseppe Verdi has been able to stimulate popular consciousness through his music, awaken the sense of belonging and national pride by making a very important contribution to the culture of a united Italy." To associate the emotion for these ideals and values, today as yesterday to be rediscovered and to defend, to the beauty of a historical and prestigious seat of the Institutions, is an opportunity that honors me enormously ", the words of presentation of the event of Gaia Maschi Verdi.

"The dedication and attachment to the homeland of which Giuseppe Verdi has been an illustrious interpreter in Italian history are the most important values which inspire the daily work of the women and men of the Air Force", the comment by Air Force General Staff, air force general Pasquale Preziosa. "The Aeronautica Militare, as an institution, wants to contribute to making known to the citizens pieces of history, art and culture of our country, a commitment that also through virtuous collaborations like this we are happy to carry on".

The exhibition will be open to the public with free admission on 13-14 June and 20-21 June days with access from University Avenue, 4 in the 10,00-18,00 time slot. Provided easy access routes for the disabled and guided tours in Italian and English.
