Wednesday 11th at 18.00pm "50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War"

06/10/23

The Yom Kippur War took place in 1973, involving Israel, Egypt, and Syria. It began 6 October, with simultaneous attacks by Egypt and Syria during the Yom kippur (Jewish religious event that celebrates the Day of Atonement) and the Ramadan (month in which fasting is practiced, in commemoration of the first revelation of the Koran to Muhammad) Muslim.

Egypt successfully crossed the Suez Canal, aiming for the Sinai, while Syria aimed for the Golan Heights.

Initially in difficulty, Israel launched effective counteroffensives, regaining ground and advancing into enemy territory.

The war ended on October 25, when a ceasefire was brokered under international supervision.

What happened in those days?

What are the errors and underestimations?

But above all... what has it taught Israel, Egypt, Syria and the rest of the world?

We'll talk about it Wednesday 11 October at 18.00 pm together with the generals Giorgio Battisti e Giuseppe Morabito and - in connection with Israel - with Dr Eli Karmon.

We are waiting for you!
