Military Navy: the Group Navi a Vela command at the regatta vintage sails of Imperia

Sailing school ships Great Bear, Capricia, North Star e Caroly, will be moored at the Calata Anselmi of the port of Imperia from the 7 to the September 13, the second stage of the third phase of the 2016 Education Campaign.

After disembarking the students of the Sanitary Corps and of the Capitaria di Porto of the Naval Academy of Livorno in the port of Alghero are now on board the students of the 2 ° year of the Commissariat Corps and of the Naval Engineers.

The Sailing Ships Group has set itself the primary objective of contributing to the training of future Navy officers.

Ship Great Bear (photo), the largest of all with its 28,3 mt and the headquarters of the command of School Ship Group by frigate captain Marco Paolo Montella, is an Italian construction of the 1994, built at the Tencara shipyards of Venice.

Ship North Star, also designed and built specifically for the Navy, is in service since 1965, while Nave Caroly (1943) and Ship Capricia (1963) are boat owners donated to the Navy by the Preve family and the Agnelli family respectively.

The four units, in addition to training activities for the students of the training institutes of the Navy, are employed in awareness-raising activities for the respect of the environment, in activities for the dissemination of maritime education aimed at respecting and enhancing of the sea and participate in the regattas of vintage sails of the AIVE (Italian Association of Vintage Sails) and foreign circuits.

An activity dedicated to training and transmitting the traditions of the Navy for young students, as well as an opportunity for citizens to get on board.

As part of the stop, the three vintage units will take part in regattas for vintage and classic boats organized by the Imperia Assonautica called "Imperia Vintage Sails".

Citizenship will be able to visit sailing school ships from 8 to September 12 and on non-racing days from 2016 to 1430: 19.
