Italy returns from the VI Military World Games with 32 medals

With the prestigious result of 32 medals, the participation of the Italian delegation at the VI World Military Games (GMM), held by the 2 at the 10 October in Korea, came to an end.

Italian athletes ranked ninth in the final standings, having won 5 gold medals, silver 13 and bronze 14: results that testify to the value and commitment of athletes with their stars.

To remember the important contribution of 4 Paralympic athletes present in the delegation, 3 men and a woman, who competed in athletics and archery winning two silver and one bronze medals.

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano, contacted the delegation expressing his full satisfaction with the results achieved, which confirm the high level of military sport and sports groups that contribute to the excellence of Italian sport.

The event officially ended yesterday with a ceremony full of colors and music, which was attended by all the delegations of the States that took part in this sixth edition. 

I World Military Games they are organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) every four years. The event brings together people from all over the world thanks to the values ​​on which healthy and competitive sport is based. The motto under which the CISM identifies itself is in fact "friendship through sport".

XMUMX athletes from more than 4500 countries attended the GMM VIs. Italy was represented in Korea by a delegation of 100 people, of which 118 military athletes, accompanying managers and technical staff. The athletes, of international and Olympic level, are effective at home to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza Sports Groups.
