Today at the Centro Studi Americani of Via Michelangelo Caetani 32, Rome, will be inaugurated the photographic exhibition dedicated to American aviators, who during the First World War flew with the Italian pilots of the Squadrons of Bomber Caproni.

Little known fact, except to those who are passionate about aviation history or of military events, that during the Great War a group of US pilots flew side by side with Italian pilots of the Bomber Squadrons Caproni on the Italian front. Trained in Foggia, those pilots who arrived in Italy under the command of cap. Fiorello Henry La Guardia (opening photo), are today remembered as "the Foggiani", and took part in extraordinary operations that combined together the theories of Major Giulio Douhet, the genius of the engineer Gianni Caproni (opening photo) and the cooperation of army commands of two countries.

Gianni De Gennaro, president of the American Studies Center, will introduce the contributions of Ferdinando Salleo, former Italian ambassador to the US; Gregory Alegi, professor at LUISS Guido Carli's Department of Political Science; Giorgio Baldacci, Head of the 5 ° Department, Major Aeronautical Staff; Vincenzo Camporini, Vice President of the International Business Institute and former Chief of Staff of Military Air Force; Guido Crosetto, president of the Federation of Italian companies for aerospace, defense and security; Edward Davis Lewis, son of aviator George MD Lewis. Will moderate Vittorio Silver, RAI journalist.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at 18.00 and will remain open until December.
