The exhibition on the 100 years of the Hunting was inaugurated in Rome

"A la chasse! 1917 -2017 from the Air Defense Hunt" is the title of the exhibition inaugurated today in the "Hall of Heroes" of Palazzo Aeronautica in Rome.

A title that wants to echo the traditional toast of the Hunt and indeed with this exhibition and the book that accompanies it, the Air Force wants to "celebrate" the five Hunting Groups that celebrate the hundred years since their establishment.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the chief of staff of the Air Force, general of the aerial team Enzo Vecciarelli and illustrated by the historian Gregory Alegi together with Colonel Alessandro Cornacchini, author of the homonymous volume, presented at the recent Turin International Book Fair. To start the show the traditional ribbon cutting together with the godmother of the event, RAI journalist Chiara Giallonardo.

The path, under the banner of progress, modernity, the development of airplanes and technologies, without neglecting the human component, explains the constant evolution of the Air Defense component to protect our skies. The common thread is represented by the values ​​kept and handed down by the Groups and the Flocks between past, present and future.

A special feature of this exhibition will be the possibility of "walking virtually" in a three-dimensional reconstruction of north-eastern Italy set in the 1917, a dive into the glorious past of the five Hunting Groups engaged on the front in bitter aerial fighting.

It will also be possible, thanks to the use of 3D virtual reality viewers, to enter the cockpits of some of the most famous "fighters" that have characterized the history of the Air Force, interacting in first person with the controls and instrumentation on board, in a unique experience.

The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge on weekends from 17 June to 9 July, according to a pre-established program, with a special night opening scheduled for Saturday 1 July.

On this occasion, it will also be possible to visit the other Historical Halls of Palazzo Aeronautica, considered a wonderful example of Italian rationalism and among the monumental complexes of greatest historical and architectural interest in the country.
