Undersecretary Perego visits the National Amphibious Pole and the Brindisi base of the Navy

“The amphibious group and the aircraft carrier group together represent the expeditionary task force which is a unique and valuable asset” states the Undersecretary of State for Defense Matteo Perego of Cremnago on a visit to the national amphibious pole of Brindisi established by the Command of the Third Naval Division and the marine brigade Saint Mark “this potential with fifth generation aircraft is extraordinarily effective and in line with those of the USA and the United Kingdom. The elements of this structure are found in the base of Taranto, Grottaglie and Brindisi, a strategic hub that must have the attention and resources for its continuous future development".

“Today I also visited a department of Navy specialists, the Lions of the San Marco marine brigade” declares the undersecretary at the end of his visit “with a great history behind it and with a peculiar professionalism for sea and land – as their motto quotes – integrated into a completely inter-force and inter-agency doctrine which together with the naval units and personnel of the Third Naval Division with the Naval Aviation I compose the national amphibious pole operating on the national territory and an essential element of the Italian-Spanish amphibious force and of the rapid intervention structures of NATO and the international coalitions of which we are part as a country".

The undersecretary completed the tour of visits that began yesterday in the Apulian hub with the marine brigade Saint Mark in the Swabian castle of Brindisi and in its "Carlotto" barracks and then to see the command of the third naval division and the Brindisi military arsenal.
