Tomorrow, open doors at Palazzo Aeronautica

19/11/14

As part of the initiatives aimed at communicating the transparency and integrity of public institutions, Palazzo AM will be open tomorrow, Thursday 20 November, from 08: 30 to 13: 00 to the public with an entrance from Viale Gobetti.

The purpose of the initiative is to make the citizen more aware of the contribution provided by the institutions to the life of the country and to enhance the "culture of transparency" of the armed forces which, by nature, are subject to confidentiality restrictions not common to the other administrations of the State. Citizens will therefore be able to share a normal working day in the Air Force General Staff.

Palazzo AM, a monumental building built in Rome in the early 30 to house the then newly established Aeronautica Militare, is still the institutional seat of the armed force. Inside, the public can visit the historic halls, the wall paintings and the furnishings that characterize them; among these, in particular, the halls of the Atlantic Cruises, aviation companies of which Italo Balbo, commissioner of the building project, was one of the protagonists.
