The day after the national day of remembrance and commitment in memory of the victims of the mafia, the Undersecretary of State for Defense, Honorable Domenico Rossi, attended the ceremony for the naming of the square in Alessandria della Rocca, in the province of Agrigento, to General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa.

"It doesn't matter that the audience is large or small"Undersecretary Rossi said in his speech, addressing the citizens of the small town of Agrigento,"what matters above all is the meaning of the message which, although launched from a small square, resounds in every corner of the country. Today the message is that of the strong presence of the government to protect the law against all forms of mafia."

The Defense is engaged throughout the national territory with over seven thousand soldiers in the Safe Roads operation, of these six hundred units only in Sicily, which operate to protect citizens while maintaining a high level of safety.

Undersecretary Rossi then recalled General Dalla Chiesa: "a courageous man, loyal to the oath that inspired his action to the sense of duty, spirit of sacrifice and the common good"said Rossi,"an example for all of us and especially for young people who represent the link between what has been and what will be".

"Significant progress has been made in the fight against the mafia: a commitment that calls the institutions to the forefront and to which no one can escape. Sicily is a great land and Sicilians an extraordinary people, rich in traditions. It is time to stop highlighting the negative things of this earth and start exporting the positive things, which are many and appreciated all over the world."

At the end of the event the undersecretary met the students and teachers of the Alessandria della Rocca school.
