Korea: Italy participates in the 6th edition of the Military World Games

From 2 to 11 October 2015 in South Korea, the sixth edition of the Military World Games will take place, an event organized every four years by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), and in which about 4500 athletes from over 100 nations, which will compete in 24 disciplines.

Italy will participate in the event with a delegation of 118 between athletes, technical staff and accompanying managers. The specialties that will see Italy in the race are in total 13, including athletics, fencing, archery, swimming, military pentathlon, skydiving.

In addition to the presence of numerous Olympic, world and European athletes, many of whom have already participated and won during previous editions of the World Military Games, this year will be an absolute novelty, represented by Paralympic Sports Paralympic Group athletes Defense (GSPD); Italy in particular will be represented by four Paralympic athletes, who will compete in athletics (weight throwing) and in archery.

In the last edition of the Games, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2011, Italy won the 3rd place overall in the final medal table (out of 110 participating nations), winning a total of 51 medals (14 golds, 13 silvers and 24 bronzes).

The opening ceremony will be held on October 2 in the KAFAC (Korean Armed Forces Athletic Corps) stadium in Mungyeong (Korea).
