Corazzieri and fanfare of the Carabinieri at the Quirinale for the day of national unity and of the constitution

(To Arms of the Carabinieri)
16/03/17

Friday 17 March from 16.40, on the occasion of the National Unity, Constitution, Hymn and Flag Day 34 horses will be shown at the main entrance of the Quirinal Palace, led by as many cuirassiers in the historic Gran Gala uniform for the traditional and evocative Changing of the guard.

It is a historic ceremony that takes place three times a year. A solemn tribute that the regiment celebrates on occasions of greater civil importance: the first on 7 January on the occasion of Feast of the Tricolor, the second Friday 17 March for the National Unity, Constitution, Hymn and Flag Day (commemorates the birth of the Kingdom of Italy, which took place on March 17, 1861) and the third on June XNUMX on the eve of Armed Forces Day.

The cuirassiers regiment is the oldest unit of the Italian Armed Forces and on Friday, intended as a Grand Gala consisting of the traditional helmet and cuirass (the latter gives its name to the Corps), it will honor the Banners and will give life to an evocative equestrian essay. The ceremony, which will last about thirty minutes, will end with the Changing of the guard at the entrance of the Main Gate of the Quirinale Palace.

During the event the Fanfare of the 4th Carabinieri Regiment on horseback will perform, which will confer solemnity and prestige for the departments involved.

The cuirassiers regiment is a specialized force of the Carabinieri, whose origins date back to the mid-1500s. The Corps, which over the centuries has changed its name several times but has maintained the same prerogatives, is today the Honor Guard of the President of the Italian Republic. Before December 24, 1992 the department was named carabinieri regiment guards of the republic and until 1990 it was called command carabinieri guards of the president of the republic.
