"The State must never stop trying to find the truth".
So the Minister of Defense, Elisabetta Trenta, on the sidelines of the meeting with the family of Davide Cervia, which took place yesterday afternoon at Palazzo Baracchini.
28 years have passed since Davide Cervia, a sergeant expert in electronic warfare, mysteriously disappeared in Velletri.
Facts for which the judiciary ascertained it was a kidnapping, condemning the Ministry of Defense to compensate family members for "having violated their right to truth".
A symbolic sentence to pay one euro, which the previous government had challenged.
Decision reviewed by Minister Trenta, who has decided not to follow up on that appeal and yesterday afternoon he met his wife Marisa and David's father to symbolically deliver one euro to them.
"We must recognize the errors of the state, towards a family that deserves respect and truth" said the holder of the Dicastery. "I wanted to execute the sentence and render justice to David" he added, also saying he was willing to investigate the whole affair.
"This euro has great value, as it represents 28 years of battles" said Marisa Cervia who thanked the minister for his interest: "Had the sensitivity to read the cards and understand, giving dignity to each other and to David".
